David, of Frederick, MD, was last seen on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at around 9 p.m. after visiting a relative in nearby Walkersville. He was presumably on his way back home but it appears he never made it.
On Sunday, July 15th, David stopped at the Jennerstown Dollar General parking lot after running out of gas. He called AAA, who provided him with 2 1/2 to 3 gallons of gas.
David had plans to play golf with a relative on July 16th. When he failed to show, a missing persons report was filed and he and his vehicle were entered into NCIC.
On Sunday afternoon, just after 5 p.m., PA State Police checked on an abandoned car at Mile Marker 16 on Route 99, just north of the Claysburg exit. The trooper called in the registration and tagged the car. The following day, troopers were notified by NCIC that the vehicle belonged to the missing Maryland man.
Troopers did a ground search of the area where David's car had been found and called in the State Police helicopter in an effort to locate David but no sign of him was found.
